The DC Studio of Perkowitz+Ruth Architects (P+R) has achieved LEED® Certification for Core & Shell for a base building renovation at Montrose Crossing, as recently announced by the Green Building Certification Institute.

Rick Martin, Perkowitz+Ruth Architects' Director of Sustainability, recently passed the International Code Council (ICC) exam to be a Certified CALGreen Plans Examiner. In partnership with the California Building Officials, this ICC certification is intended to validate the competency of inspectors and plan reviewers on their understanding and ability to implement the provisions of CalGreen.

Brian Wolfe, AIA, Senior Principal of Perkowitz+Ruth Architects (P+R) and President of the firm’s operations in China, alongside P+R General Manager David Chang, presented to an audience of retail real estate professionals at the Mall China Conference held April 13-14 in Shenzhen.

Studio One Eleven’s 4th+Linden was honored with a 2012 Compass Blueprint Recognition Award at a ceremony held in conjunction with the SCAG Regional Conference and General Assembly in Los Angeles. The adaptive reuse project was awarded an Excellence Award for Visionary Planning for Sustainability.

Fred Kent, president of Project for Public Spaces (PPS), recently visited Long Beach as a guest of Long Beach Mobility Coordinator Charles Gandy. Speaking to a group of community leaders gathered at Studio One Eleven, Kent led a discussion and tour about place making, mobility independence and creating cities that are more welcoming and engaging places for everyone.

Perkowitz+Ruth Architects’ Jamillah Muhammad helped celebrate the dedication of the Perry Hall Condominiums on Sunday, March 18 in Arlington, Va. As an active member of the Northern Virginia chapter of Habitat for Humanity, Muhammad volunteered on Saturdays during the construction of this project as a family partner to those working to complete the required “sweat equity” hours.

Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market today received the Platinum-Level Store Certification Award from the Environmental Protection Agency's GreenChill Partnership for green refrigeration technology at its new store located in Folsom, California. The store, designed by Perkowitz+Ruth Architects, is one of just four grocery stores in the nation to achieve this challenging standard.

The Paradies Shops, the award-winning industry leader in airport concessions, recently announced that it was unanimously approved for a 10-year agreement to operate the concession program at Long Beach Municipal Airport (LGB). As a result, Studio One Eleven has been selected to partner with Paradies and design the airport terminal renovation.

Developer CIM Group brought together community and government leaders on March 5 to celebrate the completion of phase two of Midtown Crossing -- a 330,000-square-foot urban retail development in central Los Angeles. The two-phase development, which saw the first phase completed in 2006, is home to the first Lowe’s Home Improvement Store to locate in the mid-city district.

At an awards ceremony held February 9 at the International Builder’s Show in Orlando, Fla., Studio One Eleven-designed Senior Art Colony captured one of the housing industry’s highest honors. The mixed-use senior housing project was presented with a 2012 NAHB 50+ Housing Council’s ‘Best of 50+ Housing’ Gold Award for Best Affordable Rental On the Boards.
