Perkowitz+Ruth Architects Promotes Rick Martin to Sustainability Manager

LONG BEACH, Calif. (March 11, 2009) -- Perkowitz+Ruth Architects has promoted Rick Martin, CSI, CDT, LEED® AP, to the position of Sustainability Manager, as announced by Executive Vice president Steve Ruth, AIA. In this role, Martin will guide P+R’s “Green” efforts and manage the LEED administration process of projects pursuing certification, including registration, administration and documentation.

“We are committed to the importance of designing environmentally friendly buildings and projects in each of our areas of practice,” said Ruth. “Naming Rick to this position allows us to expand and formalize leadership in this arena, streamline our processes and provide valuable additional services to our clients.”

P+R's sustainability services also include guidance for Green retrofits and renovations, as well as guidance on material selection, specifications, and research on financial incentives and potential rebates. Martin will oversee the Green materials library, work to integrate internal and external sustainability standards; and assist in the training of P+R staff members for the LEED accreditation exam.

Among the active P+R projects pursuing certification is Plaza Pacoima, a 209,000-square-foot retail development in Los Angeles for Primestor Development, and Deer Springs Town Center, a Regency Centers 154,000-square-foot power center in Las Vegas.

Martin joined Perkowitz+Ruth Architects in 2005 as Construction Contract Administrator. He earned his Bachelor of Science from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in 2000, and is credentialed in Construction Document Technologies (CDT). Martin is a member of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) and the LA Chapter of the United States Green Building Council.
